In the post on Land Abroad, we looked at why buying land on Grand Cayman, one of the three islands in the Cayman Islands, is such a good idea. We mentioned that Grand Cayman is a developed place that has luxury resorts and hotels, the famed Seven Mile Beach, the North Sound and a well connected International Airport. We also mentioned that Cayman Islands is British Overseas Territory with a stable government and rule of law.

In this post we look at the features of Grand Cayman in more detail.

The Seven Mile Beach on the western coast of the island has been rated as the best Caribbean beach. Considering that Caribbean beaches are among the top beaches in the world, this is a great honour indeed. World-renowned hotel chains have properties along the beach and wealthy individuals have their luxury homes facing the beach.

George Town, the top financial centre and shopping location and the capital city, lies towards the south of the Seven Mile Beach. On the north of the beach there is a turtle farm where a rare species of turtle are grown for meat and for release into the wild.

The North Sound is an extensive lagoon on the north of the island that is protected by reefs. It is an ideal location for all kinds of water sports including scuba diving and kayaking.

While all these western districts are “westernized”, the eastern districts provide a more local flavor. There are restaurants serving traditional Caymanian dishes, including Green Sea Turtles raised in the turtle farm.

Cayman Islands is a favoured destination for wealthy retirees who prefer to live in a sunny environment near great beaches, water bodies and other attractions. Buying land in the Cayman Islands give you the option to join an elite group living in a place with one of the highest living standards in the world.
